Daily Dose of Protest: Glib Tongued (featuring El-P) – Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs

From artist’s Bandcamp

The latest intense single by the UK metal band is from their upcoming album, Death Hilarious, out April 4th. The song also includes a hard-hitting feature from RTJ’s El-P. Concerning the motivation behind the tune, the lead singer Matt Baty explains “My lyrics reflect on how fondness of the past and senses of nostalgia can affect and influence the present, and especially in a political sense, not for the better. This notion of working towards ‘getting things back to how they used to be,’ feels very backwards. The ‘good old days’ never existed. Having El-P collaborate with us on this track was absolutely mind-blowing. Word class lyricist. No smoke and mirrors, sees and tells it exactly the way it is.”

The songs resonate in the wake of MAGA and similar movements that involve devolving to a time when a significant segment of the population was denied certain basic human rights.
