“Almost Had To Start A Fight / In And Out Of Patience” is from Parquet Courts upcoming album Wide Awake which is due out on May 18. The song is a split track and both parts of the tune poignantly address the current state of political turmoil.
Concerning the upcoming album, band member Austin Brown made the following statement: “In such a hateful era of culture, we stand in opposition to that, and to the nihilism used to cope with that, with ideas of passion and love”. Fellow band mate Andrew Savage mentioned that the band was trying to write catchy songs while also “expressing anger constructively but without trying to accommodate anyone”. Lyrics such as “reasons eclipsed by tension”, “I want not to feel numb about death”, “finding peace is not an easy task” and “trapped in a brutal invention” definitely resonates in the times we’re living in.
